Columbus Hotel is housed in Palazzo della Rovere, a splendid 15th century building, inside which the very latest comforts have been installed in an harmonious manner. The building was frescoed by Pinturicchio and was so sumptuous and beautiful that in June 1495 Charles VII of France preferred to lodge there rather than at the Vatican. The magnificent halls, fireplaces and frescoes on the walls and on the vaults are still all splendidly preserved in the Hotel.
