City Center
Silken Gran Havana Hotel was built in 1991, incorporating the original stately 1872 facade; but it was redecorated in 2002. The curving interior atrium, in the style of the Art Nouveau architect Gaudi, extends from the ground-floor piano bar to the glass-covered roof six stories above. An adjacent seating area offers several sofas and chairs for reading and conversation. This duality of the Gran Hotel Havana is typical of Barcelona, where tradition and the avant-garde coexist happily together. Which explains this 19th-century building with a 21st-century interior. Also how its modern concept of service is based on traditional ideas of hospitality.
